On March 4, 2011, Friday, I read an article in ‘The Hindu’ about renowned anti-trafficking activist Sunitha Krishnan who said: “Andhra Pradesh has achieved a distinction of becoming the second state in the country after West Bengal for trafficking girls to other States to be pushed into flesh trade.”  This was an eye-opener for me! Later, I read that Sunitha Krishnan’s organisation in the last 15 years of operation, had rescued 4636 girls from prostitution, 786 girls married, 6000 children prevented and also run 18 schools for the children. She had been beaten up 14 times, lost one eardrum, and also saw a co—worker be murdered right in front of her eyes.  This is amazing work!

Well, there is much, much more work to be done, take a note of the startling statistics  below:

• Total number of Prostitutes in India being 2.8 million
• 1.2 million are child prostitutes
• Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal states together account for 26% of the total number of prostitutes in the country. This is mind-boggling!
• Every hour, four women and girls in India enter prostitution, three of them against their will.

Exactly one year after moving into the new city, in the year 2010, God helped us plant  'Shiloh Revival Church' in Dammaiguda, an area in the outskirts of Hyderabad.  Now, as we were working on the growth of the church, God placed another burden, no, no….. I would say, lighted a fire in my heart for the women and children in Hyderabad.  I kept pondering over the statistics of prostitution that I read of Hyderabad; I knew then, God had something more planned for us here in this city!  Much around this time, an AIDS patient, a very young widow, who had lost her husband and baby to this killer disease, walked into our church.  God opened my eyes to another fact, and that is AIDS! My life was never the same after that!  Read this……..

• India has been ranked tenth in the list of countries with the most HIV infected around the world.
• HIV infected rate in India: 3.5 million people
• 3 out of every 100 Indians are now infected
• 9 out of 10 of those people are below 45 years old.

Three kids abandoned by their mom, walked into our church; we gave them shelter in our home for ten days.  Their mom came back after ten days and dragged the kids away.  Well, through these episodes, God was training and revealing the various hues of this city; however, God placed a burning passion to start an orphanage and free school for the poor kids. 

On September 11, 2011, we started our Abide School

December, 2012, we launched our half-way home - ABIDE ANGEL HOME

The full fledged orphanage and shelter for abandoned women and their rehabilitation would soon follow.   The other activities of ABIDE would be: rehabilitation of prostitutes, small scale industry for them, schooling and training for the kids of prostitutes and also for AIDS affected children, shelter for women and children in trauma; computer, tailoring, cookery classes for the poor women. I have separately explained about the ABIDE SCHOOL project that we have already launched.    

School dropouts, kids who have never stepped into a school compound, kids picking rags from the streets, severely addicted teenage boys and kids from various social backgrounds join our Home and School.  Documents have been submitted to the Andhra Pradesh Government and necessary things are being done  for the development of our school.  We are also working on the building plan for our school.  Pray and support this work of God.

Mathew 25:40  ‘And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'

The word ‘KING’ in the above scripture makes me shudder! When He was crucified, the Bible says, “an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.” (Luke 23:38) He is the King of kings! Amen.  We’ve got to give an account of our lives one day to the KING; through all the hustle and bustle of our life, we need to pause and look around as well.  Dashing to church on Sunday and back is not Christianity; that would not suffice, we’ve got to pool in our bit for this painful society.  It is not enough that we throw in a few dollars into the offering bag and relax; no, we’ve got to stretch forward to help in the mission field.  You can help a church project during your vacation time, may be visit an orphanage on weekends and teach them vocational course, distribute biscuits and bread at the kids ward in hospitals etc.
