Going little BEYOND….

Mathew 26:39”He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will."

You know what , if I have to expound the above scripture about the PRAYER OF JESUS at the Garden of Gethsemane, I just cannot instantly start tapping away on my laptop, I spent a couple of hours reading the Word, praying and then I sat to write this devotion….listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit diligently.  Jesus told his disciples, "Sit here while I go over there and pray”, while going he took Peter, James and John (the chosen 3); however, he left them too and went further beyond, away from them to pray because HE said: “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death.”  When you go through hell and high waters and when the storm is too strong, you got to go a little beyond…..away from people to have a personal conversation with your God.  The Bible says, “Jesus went a little BEYOND them…”

Look what Jesus did, He:a) fell on His face and b) prayed, saying, c)"My Father…this is no cute prayer when you pray with good wordings and accent but this is what you call as ‘desperate prayer’ not Sunday class prayer or good-night prayer but this is heart-wrenching prayer calling  upon  the Heavenly Father.   You do this, when none other can help you but Jesus! No big hospital, doctors or magicians can save you, your marriage or children, only God is able to do the impossible.  Someone out there needs to hear this today!

I love this part which I would like to emphasize today, going a little BEYOND to commune with God.

Hannah had to get up and go to that GOD-ZONE which was little BEYOND her husband who was keeping her comfortable with lot of goodies.  Get away from goodies and freebies and work hard to get your rewards,  ah, this sentence is phenomenal!  Hannah’s husband enticed her by saying,’ darling Hannah, am I not better than 10 sons?” ( 1 Samuel 1:8)  Ah, no….no….. such words did not deter the determination of Hannah, she got up away from her husband and entered into the presence of God at the temple, because “greatly distressed, she prayed to the LORD and wept bitterly.”  Her agony was terrible because she was tormented everyday by Peninnah, her husband’s another wife.  God heard her prayers and blessed her with Samuel.

A desperate widow came to prophet Elisha and cried out bitterly, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD; and the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves." This widow had none left now but only her two sons and the money lenders were now eyeing the sons, this is heart-breaking, traumatic situation, it is now that this wise widow comes to Elisha for help. ( thank God she did not google for help) Who you turn to, where you go during times of crisis determines the miracle you will finally achieve.  When I was admitted in the hospital in the year 1999 bleeding profusely while 5 months pregnant, we turned to the Lord for help.  (Click MY TESTIMONY from my website (http://www.worshipjesusministriestrust.org) to read my complete testimony)

The Bible says in 2 Kings 4:4, Elisha advised the widow to “ go inside, shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour oil into all these jars, setting the full ones aside." Elisha told her go little BEYOND if you want an awesome miracle to save you and your sons from the hands of the devil.  SHUT THE DOOR AND GO INSIDE FOR A FACE TO FACE DIALOGUE WITH GOD.

When king of Assyria sent a death-warrant letter to Hezekiah king of Judah, the Bible says;
2 King 19:14So Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers, read it, and went up to the house of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD. 15And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD: “O LORD, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.…This is what you call as ‘taking it to the Lord in prayer..”  Hezekiah went a little BEYOND into the house of the Lord to spread the letter before God who would is a righteous JUDGE.  Say Amen.  God saw the tears, his efforts and heard his prayer…..You can see the answer of Hezekiah’s prayer in verse 35: Then it happened that night that the angel of the LORD went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when men rose early in the morning, behold, all of them were dead. Hurray!

All the above that I have mentioned were no cute prayers but prayers that just mess you up!  I one day went to my friend’s house and asked her to lock me inside her house while they go away to work.  I needed the privacy to pray, if not I would have collapsed, such was my situation; however, she knew none of it and did not ask me ‘why’ but just locked me in. Now, when I think back it is weird but behind those closed doors when I prayed I got charged again to fight my battles.  God bless you!
