Numbers 11:6”but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!"
God showered ‘manna’ for the Israelites everyday and filled their tummy with good, nourishing food; yet these people felt bored of being fed with manna everyday, hence they complained, ‘there is nothing at all except this manna!’ This seems to be a callous attitude of the people of God! Let me give you a reason for this belligerent attitude: they were accustomed to the blessings that they received everyday. Agree? If you are made to starve for ten days then you would appreciate the manna – even a piece of plain bread would be delicious for a starved man.
Recently I met an elderly widow around 71 years old. She has been given a small room to stay in a big cottage house which she takes care of too. She had lost her husband when she was pregnant with her first baby, did not marry after that but concentrated on bringing him up, she is now saved too. However, now she stays alone with her son married and lives elsewhere, she said something that just squeezed my heart, she said I make tomato chutney and eat daily, I can't afford to buy vegetables. What? Vegetables is costly which means non veg is no way in her agenda. Think friends today! There are people living like this all over India, but we fuss about silly things.
Jesus talks a lot about guarding our eyes because it happens to be the door for our body! Jesus said: “The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness.” (Luke 11:34) What you watch is important! You know what, more than anything, cooking food for our Abide School children brings great satisfaction for me.

Bro Stanley said: “Even a brief stay with missionaries in remote places will drive away from us murmuring of all sorts. Working with the poorest of the poor fills us with a spirit of gratitude and thankfulness for God's manifold blessings in our lives.”
