Watching REELS
3 John 1:2”Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
I titled this devotion as 'Reels' because it would get instant hits and they will open, if I title it 'Soul" , people would either delete or skip the devotion. Who cares about soul today?
The foundation for all other prosperity is the "soul"! Wow! When your soul prospers with abundant feeding of prayer, fasting, Word of God and sitting in the quiet presence of God in the early dark hours of dawn, then ALL THE OTHER THINGS will just come and fall in your lap. “Just as your soul prospers” should sound loud and clear in all our ears today!!! Train your family and children to live a life surrendered to Christ and not to social media!
Midnight is now taken away by the enemy either for work, for stress buster internet browsing rather than quiet rest, sleep and prayer. As screens fill the quiet hours, it is easy to shift focus from spiritual growth to worldly, often trivial matters. The plethora and excess of stuff available on social media looks like feast for the eyes; however, be warned it is consuming your energy, time and life.
A dear sister in Christ yesterday humorously told me’ are we so-called-blood-washed-saved-Christians’ ready for Jesus second coming, are we one among the wise virgins who had surplus oil or are we among the foolish virgins who were left behind because of lack of oil? Will we be left behind by Christ because of constant watching of ‘REELS’ from social media?” Million dollar question that comes to us! Late-night browsing provides instant gratification, but it robs you off from most important things of life.
Misplaced Priorities would rob your early morning talk with God, walk with God and eventually take you downhill. Wake up today to analyse your life!
Blue light from screens suppresses melatonin, making it difficult to fall asleep, which in turn causes daytime tiredness. When your mind, body, soul and spirit is nurtured properly with good stuff then your whole day would be gorgeous. You can avoid the chaotic morning rush, dash and push, your day will be filled with peace which would also flow down into the lives of other people. You will be like a Living water!
Some very diligently and aggressively plan to watch something before sleep, it is like they say’ I have worked enough it is ‘my time’ I can now enjoy browsing without any disturbance. Why not say like this, “I was able to finish all assignments today by God’s grace, now let me peacefully thank Him before I go to bed”??? Establish a time to turn off devices before bed, restructure your life to align with pleasing God and meeting His expectations and not your desires.
Replace mobiles with calming, non-screen activities like reading, or short, silent prayer.
Testimony: After my encounter with Jesus and my salvation, I would carry my infant baby boy Joshua on my shoulders, tip-toe out of the bedroom, get into the adjacent room near the balcony, rock him on my shoulders in the wee dark hours of early morning around 3.30 am to pray. I taught both my children to wake up early morning to pray which we as parents consider as great treasure!
