UPPER ROOM

Daniel 6:10 “When Daniel knew that the king had written his name on this law, he went into his house where, in his upper room, he had windows open toward Jerusalem. There he got down on his knees three times each day, praying and giving thanks to his God, as he had done before.”

Now let me unpack the above scripture: Daniel knew that a law has been passed forbidding prayer to anyone else except the king, he knew his colleagues were jealous and plotting against him, he knew he was in danger; however, in the midst of it all he did not seek an appointment with the king to go and sort out matters, argue his case but instead he went to the  upper room to pray ‘AS HE HAD DONE BEFORE!’ Clap hands for God! He had no niggles and did not complain to God “ I am a praying person, I come to you not once but three times a day; yet, you have allowed this to happen”, no…..no…..he humbly trusted God, gave thanksgiving and went up to pray as usual.  Glory to Jesus! This is called ‘having your mind stayed on God’, read Isaiah 26:3” You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Philippians 2:14-15 encourages believers to "Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure".

Hello friend, there is always this one person who will spoil your peace, carry stories about you and against you, this one person is finding ways to get people dislike you and ostracize you; nevertheless, I am speaking to people who are hurting now because of rumours and gossips, don’t fight back, don’t argue but do what Daniel did, ‘WALK UP TO YOUR PRAYER CLOSET, KNEEL DOWN, GIVE THANKS TO GOD AND PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING, FORGIVE THAT EVIL PERSON WHO IS PLOTTING BEHIND YOUR BACK ALSO.” Hallelujah! I am helping someone today.

Friend, the reason for our mediocre lives, broken homes and debt-drenched lives is because we read more of ‘how to become rich and how to have stress-free life’ rather than the Word of God and pray like Daniel. We chat more on face book rather than with God like Daniel. Young people! Youth Leaders! Listen! When would you abandon the world, social media and spend time with God in fasting and prayer, so that you could get directions from ABOVE for your life rather than running behind influential people? 
How about going on plain tea and bread for a few days and praying? Your ministry, work and life would have spectacular changes when you do that! I challenge you! We talk big about the Big God, alright; but when would we do something big for Him, like crucifying our flesh, desires and appetite and sit at His feet? Tell me. I thank God as my passion for Him has not been buried even after several years; the pain, suffering, tribulations, sickness, betrayal, lampooning and humiliation has not dented my craze and love for Him one bit. 

Daniel was a great politician, prime-minister of state to one of the greatest monarchs upon earth, a great prophet, one who was able to interpret dreams and visions; yet he was a diligent student in the scripture and a prayerful man. If you’re passionate about God, you would do all it takes to cut the ‘unwanted stuff’ and commune with Him. Are you hearing me?
