Joseph obeyed
Mathew 2:13”…an angel of the Lord *appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.”
What makes you think that following God and one hundred percent obedience would exempt you from trials, discomfort, misery, grief, injury, damage, angst, disappointment, failure inconvenience and heartbreaks? Tell me. An avalanche of all the above would swell against you; nevertheless, God expects you to overcome each one of them. I want to keep reiterating here that the ‘journey is tough, the journey is tough even if you have determined your heart to obey God wholeheartedly! Take the lesson today my friends. I walked it and I am still walking.
To be the earthly father of JESUS was not easy for Joseph, he obeyed anyway.
Obedience demands sacrifice, pain, and commitment. Even though you may not have a blueprint of your future but still God expects you to trust Him wholeheartedly and follow Him. Some of us want some great things and excellent goodies without any sweat! The moment Joseph and Mary surrendered to partner with the Holy Spirit in birthing Jesus Christ into this World for the redemption of sins, there came persecutions one after another. Be alert, be ready and be prepared to counter attack the onslaught of the enemy. Joseph and Mary could not take long maternity leave and read ‘how to bring up a new born’ as they lounge in their cozy home, no….no…no….they had to flee from one place to another and stay in strange places. Someone needs to hear this. Joseph was warned in the dream to ‘Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt..’ Did you hear Egypt? Strange place, among pagan idol worshippers, strange culture, strange language and people who do not understand the ways of Jehovah. Joseph obeyed anyway.
After I resigned from the multinational bank where I worked, I sold my flat to pay my dues to the bank and moved into a rented place. Since then, we have moved several houses in Chennai and Hyderabad, we still stay in a rented house and all our projects operate in rented buildings where we face enormous problems. At times, we were given one month notice to vacate the building and move. Be faithful for God anyway.
