Trust not yourself!
2 Corinthians 1:9” Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.”
Boy, this is pretty heavy statement, Apostle Paul said ‘we had received sentence of death’, imagine saying this. He did not despair at this point of crisis but he was learning his lessons then and there, say Amen. He said, ‘this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.’ God is speaking to someone out there, no matter how big a mountain you may face today but your God is bigger than that, clap hands for God, will you? He raises the dead!
Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight". Awesome scriptures! Trust God with all your heart without an iota of doubt. Do not rely on yourself, read (James 4: 13-15) Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
We have scores of people today who smartly, shrewdly and craftily plan out things but alas God is not in their agenda!
Three girls were staying in our Abide Angel Home and also studying in our Abide School, they were children of a single mom. Well, all three of them were smart but later I found that including their mom all four of them were super-smart and canny people. The mom attends a Pentecostal church and told me that she wakes up in the morning and listens to an anointed sermon daily. ( picture she painted about herself) Just with few months away for class 10 public exam, we were making all arrangements for her elder daughter. This woman suddenly one day changed the surname of her children to her ‘new’ husband’s name with caste, with a hope to gain benefits from Government pertaining to that ‘caste’. She had taken great efforts to do all this, during this period she was very rude to me, though she was enjoying all the benefits from both our free hostel and free School. I suffered excruciating pain because of this woman, I needed lot of prayers because I did not want to just remove the children who were studying with us.
Okay eventually the elder girl already was into a relationship with someone near her home and with just few days before her exams she eloped away with that boy while she was on holidays. God protected me because she ran away while she was on holidays at her home. Though the mother was attending a good church, but she was conducting her life not according to the Bible but her own. Alas, the loss was great! I heard later that she married that boy who was a hindu. Proverbs 28:26: "Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered" Anybody listening to me today?
You need to galvanize all of yourself to trust God and not your own understanding, which means you need to do all it takes to stay fixed trusting God!
