Gossip Not

Romans 3:13 " Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit"; " The poison of asps is under their lips."
After my encounter with Jesus, the first thing I did at office, was to disentangle myself from the gossip-trap. It was not easy, though. I tried staying silent while others gossiped and guffawed away to glory, but one colleague asked me, 'why aren't you joining the fun?' Do you know what I told her? My Bible tells me that 'we should not gossip.' There was dead silence. That was my last day with my colleagues at office, from the next day I started having my lunch alone in the staircase, which later turned out to be my 'meeting point with God.'
Right from the parliament, to the pavement, parlors, pan shops and pubs are some of the flourishing gossip centre. Inside the office, we find this happening around the water cooler, at the copier machine, inside the canteen, cubicle partitions and even inside the wash rooms! Ah, aren't these juicy stories interesting? I bet it is, as long as it is about another! Why not place yourself in the place of the person who is being battered and munched? Would you like it? Never participate in these salacious talks. People feel that gossip is a kind of stress-buster, well, guffawing wickedly about another person may release your tension a bit, but one day it would swing back to you. Beware! When you chew the affairs of someone over a cup of tea, we fail to understand that according to God's standard we are committing a wicked crime.
Let me quote a few scriptures that rebuke people who scandalously use their tongue: Ephesians 4:29'Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.'
Ephesians 5:1'…no foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.'
Ephesians 5:11'…have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.'
When you talk ill about someone who is not present in the group, then it is called gossip, the moment you feel the conversation is getting to that area, be upfront and state that you are not comfortable talking about others. This is going to raise some eyebrows, never mind, put your foot down for God. I did that. I started my walk with God by taking a strong stand in such small things and later God called me to serve Him full time in the mission field and now He has given me an important position in His Church. God honors those who honor Him. Never think gossip is a small thing, many of us forfeit our blessings, may be because we have failed to control our tongue! Think! I know there are many servants of God who are reading my devotions. Watch out! This ugly sin has not spared the churches as well, this virus is spreading like wild fire. You may ask what do I do if others talk?
you don't listen, run from there.
If you receive an email, don't circulate it, delete it instantly.
the information about another person may be true, but that does not give us the authentication to spread.
Getting to know of what is happening around is different from actively slandering the other person. Stay away from gossip.
