Hypocrisy
Matthew 6:1”Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.”
Hypocrisy is flaunting to the world ‘what you are not or in other words feigning to be what one is not’. Are you listening?
The world is looking for ‘integrity and truth’ because they are done with drama and con men who project a ‘goody -person on the outside but they are goons on the inside.
The Bible says that: “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son.” (Colossians 1:13) Yes, selfishness, hypocrisy, self-centeredness and self-interest are all works of darkness, thinking of the interest of others are the works of light! Amen.
Parents of three children of a particular family studying in our Abide School are now living separately because of misunderstandings, in fact, I gave the parents ‘best parent award’ couple of years back. This couple are living separately now, the children are with their father. I called both of them for counselling yesterday, the father looks very humble and gentle; however, the children told me that he speaks foul language and beats his wife. Besides the couple are active participants in the church, the wife is in the choir and the man helps the pastor. Look at that! The church is today filled with such hypocrisy worse than the parliament house. They pretend to be what they are not, I strictly warned the father of my students to not beat his wife, prayed for them and sent them.
The Bible says: 1 Chronicles 29:” 7 I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity…” Did you see that, God is pleased with integrity and not hypocrisy, He sees it all. The same person who sings ‘hallelujah’ with raised hands inside the church, whistles for a cinema song in his car with loud movie songs. Hypocrite! Let the change happen on the inside first, that’s exactly why Jesus said, Matthew 23:25-29 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.” Let these words of Jesus be a blow on our cheeks and let us not pretend anymore….
Whatever weakness that you are battling with, bring it to the feet of the Lord and ask Him to change you, give you the strength to overcome the habitual sins and reflect Jesus in our lives to the lost world instead of wearing big cross round the necks but behave like demons on the inside. Don’t be a hypocrite!
