Blessed are the blameless!
Blessed August!
Psalm 119:1 “Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.”
God has gloriously brought us to the eighth month of this year, His kindness, goodness, mercy and love has never left us one bit as we navigated through this year. He has not forgotten us or left our side, are you hearing me?
Genesis 17:1 says ”When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.”
Abraham had been waiting for several years for a child, impatiently under duress and pressure of his wife, Abraham sins against God by marrying Hagar. Nevertheless, the Lord appeared before Abraham and said “my son Abraham, I am ALMIGHTY GOD, walk before me blameless, that’s all, I will bless you.” Glory to Jesus! When you are already hurt , God would not further dig deep into the pain and point out all your flaws, He drives across the message to Abraham and told him, ‘be blameless’. That’s it.
There’s something awesome that Peter talks about in his epistle: 2 Peter 1:3 “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” Did you read that ‘through our knowledge of Him?’ How do you get knowledge? By reading the Bible! Say Amen. This was written for believers and not pagans, your walk with God does not stop with just being a ‘namesake Christian’ but God wants you to be fruitful and useful! Further Peter said:” make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.” Boy, this is powerful! You cannot be mumbling, stumbling and wobbling all the time, God wants you to be steady and blameless!
We cannot live recklessly and still expect God to bless us. Can we? I have heard some Christians tell me, ‘ how can we be blameless?’ His words are clear: be blameless! Bring your life under the microscope to unravel the mess, dirt and deep hidden sins that is buried in the dark crevices. The heavenly torch would see it all!
When children fair poorly in their exams, their immediate answer to their parents would be: ‘the correction was strict’ or ‘that teacher does not like me,’ or “I was sick on that day’ never would they accept their mistakes. Do we not do something similar with God? Don’t we run, hide, and refuse to accept that we are sinners? Don’t we want to refuse to accept the blame for our actions? We give excuses:’ Lord, I am not the only one doing it, the whole world is doing it!’ I am talking to someone out there!
How lovely would it be to boldly confess like Paul: “You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:10). Would you believe that I stopped subscribing for a particular Newspaper because there were too many movie advertisements – I said ‘no way are we reading this crap’, my whole family had to tolerate my extremism and they eventually followed too.
God bless you!
