A smidgen of sin...
Revelation 17:14"These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful."
Hebrews 3: 1, 2’Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house.’
God makes a statement about Moses, He said, ‘Moses is faithful in all His house’, which means be it ministry or personal work, Moses was true and sincere at all times. Jesus expects this from us. Back while working as an Executive Secretary for the top man of a multinational bank, since I did not have a mobile those days, I remember walking up to the main road during lunch break, to make a call to my mom from the STD booth (archaic period, 2 decades back). An officer who attended my prayer-cell told me, ‘hey bala use my office phone for STD calls.’ Being an officer myself, I could have done that too, but I refrained from using my office phone for personal STD calls. Call me a ‘nut’ if you will, but I would like to be true not only to my God but also at the place where I work. We can make a call or two, but more than that, I think we should use our own resources. Likewise, you can surely come to office a little early in the morning and browse the devotion for the day – definitely not more than 10 minutes -and other biblical resources and say a word of prayer before you start work. But if you want to do a word for word analysis of the devotion, then do it at home/ browsing centre. You are paid to do office work friend. Let me quote a few scriptures to make you understand more clearly:
Colossians 3:22- ‘Servants (you), obey in all things your masters(company) according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.’
We should never use our office stationery for our personal work - that includes ministry as well - be it fax, Xerox, Printer or courier service, this is equivalent to theft. It may be for a good cause, but still it has to be done the right way. Let me put it this way, would your boss approve of using the office equipments for personal/ministry work? I’m sure this is done slyly behind his back. Right? Besides, if your hindu friend watches you doing these things, you would surely not be appreciated, instead if you walk squeaky clean, you would be preaching louder through your life, than the ministry you do!!!! Proverbs 21: 3 ’To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice (ministry).’
I cover/focus the smallest matter in our life, because it matters to God! Do you get me friends? Following traffic rules, collecting correct change from the counter, paying your car parking token, being polite and patient at the fuel station, carrying your identity card around your office, following fire safety measures at office are all equally important as listening to your Sunday sermon. 1 Peter 2:13 ’Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake.’
Don’t be nonchalant with the general rules, look what apostle Paul got to say on this: 1 Corinthians 5:6-Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? A smidgen of sin is enough to ruin your character. If we are authentic Christians, we reflect on spiritual matters while we are pushing our shopping cart down the aisle as well as when we are sitting in a pew at church. Anybody listening?
