Vain wandering

Joshua 2:1” Joshua sent two men as spies secretly from Shittim, saying, "Go, view the land, especially Jericho." So they went and came into the house of a harlot whose name was Rahab, and lodged there.”

Listen! When you listen to God and rely on Him, He would prevent vain wanderings!  Someone should get this today.  For example:  “ taking up a foreign assignment and coming back dissatisfied and disgruntled because it was not God’s plan for you, accepting assignments that was not meant for you, entering into business ventures that was not your cup of tea and also accepting ministry positions that was not God’s plan for you.”  These men did not hesitate but were ready to go upon this dangerous and risky assignment. Today the Church and body of Christ are in severe dearth and famine of such ‘faithful men’ who would obey their leader and participate in the work of God.  Christians hesitate to even share their holidays (weekend) for God, leave alone undertaking hazardous job for God. Imagine entering the enemy territory!

These two men operated with perfect strategy because they surrendered to the voice of the Holy Spirit, they  took a straight flight to the house of Rahab whose house was on the Jericho wall, she hid them and took care of them.  Rahab climbed up to where the men were hiding, observe this, you don’t have to wander from one place to another for a word from God, when you are in His will, God would send you somebody who would climb up the attic to speak to you.  Simply superb!  She said, ‘people of Jericho are terrified about your God’ encouraged by her words, the two men having accomplished their assignment, returned back to Joshua with a good report.  Wise, smart, brave and godly men who heard the voice of God and did accordingly!  I tell you, I don’t know about you but I was spellbound about the works of God and how wonderful would it be if each one of us trusted God and His ways in our life with no wanderings whatsoever.  Are you listening?

Few years back I had accepted to preach at a meeting organized by a business man, when I entered the worship hall I felt ‘blank’, few believers were singing songs like in a school, I was in for a great shock when I found the venue almost empty, the humiliation, pain and anguish I went through in my room knew no bounds.  Just around that time, I had also written few articles to be published in the column of a distinguished Newspaper but that also did not happen; however, later I understood both were not God’s plan for my life.   Though I could preach well and handle any crowd; yet God has put me now in front of underprivileged children to teach and mold them, something I never ever dreamt of.   Tough, but I accept His plans for my life!  I do write but about His glory and His miracles, I do preach but inside our Church.  Wanderings that I accepted on my own proved futile and ineffective.
