Extra mile runner….

Philemon 1:21” Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, since I know that you will do even more than what I say.”

“… since I know that you will do even more than what I say.” Wow, what words! Such should be the testimony about us too…a person who runs the extra mile…
After spending a decade running Abide School, free school for the poor, I can pick out the trustworthy children among the huge crowd and they are very few anyway.

During our last Christmas program, the person who was to enact the role of Jesus, which was the crux of the entire drama, suddenly pulled out at the last moment; however, since we were practicing multiple times for the drama, another senior class girl opted to do the role, despite her already being in dance and comedy skit.  We knew she would do it because she was a girl of good conduct and one who keeps her word.  Despite enormous problems that came her way, she fulfilled all her roles with panache and commitment, she and her two siblings, children of a cab driver who studied with us( she was actually in my mind the whole day today). You find such ‘pearls’ very few in this selfish world where they are only concerned about their family and kids.  You know what Christians hesitate to send offering online because of the 'process' involved in it, register and then send online which is laborious work for them, people dont want to lift their little finger for God.  When we were conducting all-night prayer in Chennai which would start from 10 pm and end early morning 5 am, after the prayer, it would take around two hours for us to put pack all the wires, electronic gadgets into the car and then leave, during that time, very few would opt to stay back and help, most of them would want to get prayed, have tea and leave, same happens in the church too.

In the above scripture, Apostle Paul talks about Philemon of whom Paul was very confident and in fact he would do more than asked for.  This guy Philemon belonged to the ‘extra mile runner’, do you know about this group, if you tell them run one mile they will run an extra mile for you, such people are willing to make a special effort to do or achieve something. Do you find such people today? I wonder!
