Matthew 16:19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven..”

Jesus was having a cozy conversation with His disciples in chapter 16 and He was revealing some very important things to them, He also asked them “But who do you say that I am?" Wow, what burden He had in His heart to show them that He was God and they were nothing less because they were (all of us who believe too) the children of the Almighty God and we can call Him DADDY. This right here needs a loud applause! He told them :” I give you the KEYS to the Kingdom of Heaven.” Wow! Imagine having the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven! You and I have it, are you listening? Believe that today….

Keys are used to open or close a room, vehicle etc., without which you cannot function, nobody is going to give the keys to someone reckless or careless; therefore, keys are given to a responsible person who knows its value and purpose.  Likewise, Jesus has given the KEYS to those who have knowledge of Him and who have accepted Him as their Lord.

Friend, are you aware that there is another world waiting for each one us who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior? That is the KINGDOM OF GOD! I visualized Jesus sitting with His disciples and desperately trying to prove to them  His identity. He was trying to prove Himself to the disciples who rubbed shoulders with Him for 3 and a half years and heard every message preached by Him. The present and the future were revealed to them. Did they get it? Can I compare His love with the love of a mother or father? Never! His love far exceeds all human love! He is incomparable! Who would have such patience with sinners like us!

The world is operating on jet speed and everybody is living, as though there is no end to this life. They run, sweat and beat themselves to amass wealth but alas many fail to understand that God is preparing us for His Kingdom! Everybody including Christians feel that a good job, palatial home, acres of land, investments, good business, slabs of gold are their solid security. Nothing wrong with having riches but everything goes haywire when riches possess people. The keys that Jesus is talking about is the Gospel that opens  blind eyes and transfers them from darkness to everlasting Light.

When we repent, change our life style and live according to His Word and get into His covenant then we belong to His Kingdom. That’s it. If not, we belong to the devil’s kingdom. No middle ground. Being a name-sake Christian does not suffice, God wants us to be committed to Him, only then do we belong to His Kingdom. Which kingdom do you belong to? Do you have the KEY?  Have you used them? Use the KEY to bring the lost to Christ. God bless you!
