Desperate call

Genesis 32:11 "Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, that he will come and attack me and the mothers with the children.

12  "For You said, 'I will surely prosper you and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which is too great to be numbered.'" 13     So he spent the night there…

Hello friends, look at the desperation in the life of Jacob which drives him to his knees, the words “ I fear him’ kind of jostled me today.  We all go through such crisis in our lives but how we handle it is the question today.  Do you run to the phone to talk to your friends, seeking advice from 100 people or you run straight away to God?? Jacob had goofed up in his life but now he understands, I have none but God so he cries out, “Deliver me I pray..” he goes on to remind God of His promises: You said, 'I will surely prosper you and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which is too great to be numbered.'"  Wow, Jacob is super smart as always; however, he did something wonderful, he stayed back in the night and wrestled with God for mercy.  Lovely! Right thing to do!

We at Abide School are in a crisis situation where we need our own building because our rented premises is weakening, due to heavy rains in Hyderabad for the last 10 days , it has further deteriorated.  We are worried about the kids safety, we called the electrician and checked if things are okay…..my husband and I the next thing we did was to separate time that very day and be in the presence of God for several hours.  I can relate to the words…”I fear!” If today you fear about something in your life, this devotion is for you.

Friend, many of our situations have not reached the ‘stinking level’ or ‘ the sinking level’ which would surely drive us to fall face down before God! I have watched Christians frantically run to police station and lawyers to solve family disputes and alas they have forgotten to run to their Heavenly Father who is waiting to help them! Did He not say:” call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."(Psalm 50:15) Desperate! Desperate! Do you know how it feels? Do you know how it feels when the doctor tells you that you have to do an emergency operation right away? Do you know how it feels when you have no funds to pay the fees of your children on the day of examination? Do you know how it feels when some strangers come and instruct you to evacuate, for no fault of yours? I have gone through everything that I have talked above and much more; yet, God has been my Savior and Helper who stood by me, for me and with me!

Desperate! Yes, I wake up when it is still very dark in the morning and I pray along with my husband with loud mourning and supplications because I’m desperate to have HIM in my life. Jesus is not only merciful, kind and compassionate but He also calmly listens to you!
