I will not leave you

Gen 28:15         "Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."

When we relocated our ministry to the new city Hyderabad in the year 2009, after ministering for ten years in Tamil Nadu, the initial days in the new city with no money, no ministry openings, no friends, no relatives, new language…everything was pretty eerie, scary and not easy at all.  Nightmare days!  We were invited to preach in a school, the dear sister who invited us for the meeting would have a pencil and cover in her hand, she would write something on the cover, erase it and then write again, finally at the end of the meeting she would give us Rs.200/-  We carried the keyboard and all necessary items for the meeting and would go in a van for this meeting; however,  after lot of erasing, writing over and over again on the cover, contemplation and scrutiny she would give us Rs.200/- which was insufficient even for petrol.

Our children (my son Joshua was in class 5 then and my daughter had finished her inter college) would wait at home anxiously to bring them home something to eat, there was a particular weekly market that was on our way to that meeting, so we would pick up something cheap and take home, actually we were thrilled to eat together as a family.  It is a very strange and mixed feeling in retrospect– grateful for having gracefully overcome those situations, bit frightened to think of the empty and lonely days, excited at the same time because I am able to share the testimony today.  This would encourage someone going through barrenness, take heart friend, this cloud would pass soon….

In the above scripture, it is the most painful days of Jacob who had run away from his brother Esau, had to leave behind his hometown, parents and all that was familiar and flee to some place that was new.  That particular night, he spent in the open with a stone as a pillow was the most agonizing night I guess with uncertainty lurking in his life.  Anybody listening to me?  Have you felt alone like that?  Are you in a foreign destination away from your loved ones, wondering what the future holds for you? Let the Holy Spirit bring healing in your heart through this message today, it in these circumstances that God brings spiritual growth in our life.  We don’t grow in the comfortable zone, the Word of God gets deep into our heart only during times of crisis and loneliness.  God eventually transformed Jacob to Israel and blessed him,  God brought our family through too and He would do the same for you too! Amen.

The Lord has promised each one of us that “I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you." God bless you!
