Eager to do GOOD
devotion by Sis. Bala Samson

Titus 2:14…Eager to do what is good.”

From the time we wake up to the time we hit the pillow in the night, we got to be eager and desire to do what is good.  Anybody listening?  With pressure/pleasure all around us, with dead lines that we have to meet, debts that has to be cleared, outstanding bills and much more… who would have the time to be ‘eager to do what is good?’ People wake up grouchy, cranky and irritable because the previous night they either spend watching BIG BOSS TV program, Netflix movies or video games, how do you expect good attitude after demonic activities? There are others who just have no time for God, prayer and Bible, well on our own, we can never do good or be good, we need to tap from the source Jesus. (John 15:5)

Revelations 14:13“And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!" Never for a moment think that whatever you do would be over when you leave this earth, listen for a moment, good or bad, your deeds would follow you! Caveat! With great burden and passion I write this.

Do not be conceited and live selfish, futile lives, for many, weekends are for snoring and shopping, they would never invest it for spiritual and useful activities but rather preserve it for vain pleasures! Back when I did part-time ministry, while still working for a multinational bank, I was mocked, booed and lampooned when I shared the Gospel or distributed Gospel tracts at work; nevertheless, I continued to conduct afternoon prayer cell at my work spot, I went for outreach ministries all alone during lunch breaks, I have distributed Bibles on roads, distributed Gospel tracts to college students and much, much more. I was a young mother of two children and was still working while I invested my break-time for God. Weekends, along with my husband, we would visit hospitals and distribute biscuits to patients and also share the Gospel, we held meetings in slum areas and shared the gospel with the downtrodden people. Every bit what we did was noted by God! Dear Christian friend, do you think this is only the job of pastors and evangelists?? Think…

The atmosphere at work place would get gloomy from Thursday itself, because people would start planning for Saturday booze parties and Friday night clubs.  Teens and school kids also are in this bandwagons now of weekend partying, I wonder how many of you heard this news about 13 children who died in a night club in South Africa. Christians are no exceptions, they are not interested in Saturday fasting prayers, they just want to relax.

Revelations 22:12”Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.” I shiver as I write this!
