Guard your THOUGHTS

Matthew 9:4   And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, "Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?

Did you know the devil can plant ‘evil thoughts’ against you and attack you, just while you are doing good?  Imagine doing good and being attacked!  While you are sharing your testimony with tears, there would be someone evil in the crowd who would mock your tears and call it crocodile tears from self pity.  World is cruel friends, that’s exactly what happened to Jesus, He healed a paralytic man and forgave his sins, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This fellow blasphemes." Jesus knew their thoughts, same way, when we think evil of someone while our lips speak sugar-coated words, Jesus knows it all.

It was the last day of submitting the papers for ‘permit for the free school that we were going to start.’  (I would keep all department names anonymous for safety sake), we were doing everything with fasting and prayer, if we miss that date then things would stagnate.  The officer on the phone screamed at me saying, ‘why did you go to the main office, go through me’, I kept the phone down and identified the evil behind that voice which wanted us to miss the ‘dead line’ of submission of documents.  We went ahead and submitted the papers anyway and received the stamp on our copy which said, ‘September 31’ which was the last date of submission.  You got to pray over the mind of the enemy so that he does not sabotage your plans, life and the work of God! You need to say, “ I bind the plans of the enemy against my life.”

Remember the devil can plant thoughts in the mind of people and make them go against you, so make every effort to pray and read the Bible before you leave for work, before you start the day or before you launch out to do something for God.  Pray, pray, pray, pray….that’s the only thing I advise you today.  When I started the luncheon prayer cell in the afternoon while I was working several years back for a bank, I would first go on the terrace where we gathered and I would pray over that place and only then start.  Paul knew the importance of prayer, that’s why he pleads, ‘strive together with me in your prayers to God for me..’

How do I guard my heart? The answer is simple; by carefully feeding the heart with good and godly things. Far too often our minds are not focused on the things of God because the mind is occupied with the things of the world. Are you listening? The crap we watch on social media, the gibberish we listen to around us are all being fed into our mind, IF WE DO NOT FILTER IT and throw it away.

Let’s take a stand today. Purpose this morning that your mind and your heart will not be a garbage dump for Satan. Are you ready to decide right now that you will keep your heart pure for God’s use and God’s alone? Have you allowed your heart to become defiled? Come to God today and confess it and He will make your heart as white as snow.
