Eternal comfort

2 Thessalonians 2:16”….may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort. 17            comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.”

That particular day was a holiday, since the night warden would come only at 7 pm, I was doing the ‘day care’ job at Abide Angel Home; however,  my heart was with my family who were at home, I was feeling pretty down that day.  Well in the afternoon, the mother of three students who were staying at our Angel Home came to see me, I was shocked by her dressing, her eldest daughter was around 16 years old but she was decked up like a 16 year teenager.  Jasmine flowers were flowing upto her shoulders, she wore blue stone-studded salwar and she had matching blue nail polish on her toe nails and finger nails.   I was tongue-tied, here I was doing baby-sitting job and this woman a divorcee was into another relationship and was off for a jolly outing.  I did not say anything, she visited her children and left but the rest of the day became horrible for me, thoughts like ‘why should I cater to such woman who has money to decorate herself and date but leave the kids in shelter Homes; but during such times, God points the scripture and comforts me.  Exactly because of the irresponsibility and callous character of such women, God has appointed me as a ‘mother’ for these children, Paul said, “strengthen your hearts in every good work and word. Amen.( verse 17)

Dear friend, all other comfort outside the Everlasting Hands of God are vain and perishing but the comfort that God offers is eternal.  Can we clap hands for our God? Just when you think, your friend would be with you through thick and thin, he would let you down so badly that the deep wounds  would take days to recover –  this is fleeing and fleeting love that has no guarantee.  Are you listening?

When you are without a permanent home, permanent job, permanent income, permanent friend to rely on, permanent shoulder to lean on, then you realize you have a PERMANET GOD who would never ever leave you! Did you know, did you know..........He would run to you at a time when you are weak, tender and fragile with none to hold you! It is better to be a broken vessel with Him by our side than being puffed up with the world and riches by our side! Give Him a shout of praise please! He is worthy!
