Long suffering
devotion by Sis. Bala Samson

Good Friday

Romans 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

While I was battling the urge to sort out certain things that I felt is not right and fair, the below article of my son Joshua Samson (Pastor) kind of made me change my perspective and dust off the injustice.  The message of the cross is long suffering and endurance so I guess we need to peel off the attitude of getting even with the people who are mistreating us.

JOSHUA SAMSON:

In this age and era where narcissism(vanity) is the glorified phenomenon, radical individualism is the prevalent ideal, self-fulfillment is the celebrated goal, as citizens of heaven residing in a human society that celebrates and practices such flawed values, it becomes easy for us to forget who we belong to, what He calls us to do and how He expects us to live. It seems like we are slowly being conditioned into adopting the defective values so much so that our very worldviews are gradually being altered

Perhaps true humility is birthed from a place of acute awareness of who we are in Christ. Perhaps radical humility in our lives is only possible when we have a secure identity in Christ and a firm understanding of it. Only when we are aware of our identity in Christ as His child (John 1:12), friend (John 15:15), handiwork (Ephesians 2:10), heir (Galatians 4:7) and so on, we will be able to live out radical humility, submission and servanthood.

When we have an insecure identity and an improper conviction of who we are in Christ, we will resort to prideful antics to try to feel secure and confident. However, when we have a strong conviction and awareness that we are raised up with Christ and have been seated in the heavenly realms with God, we will be driven to our knees in humble submission and loving service to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

May we be given the courage by God to live in defiance of the sinful ideals of this world and may we be divinely enabled to have a firm knowledge of our secure and exalted identity in Christ whereby we will be able to descend on our knees in humble and loving service to others.

God bless you!
