Devote yourself in prayer

Acts 1:14”These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.”

After the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it was a period of danger, hostility filled the atmosphere, disciples were filled with fear, uncertainty, anxiety and angst, they were not sure of their future without their Master Jesus leading and guiding them.  It is during this time that the the disciples gathered in an upper room in Jerusalem, waiting for Holy Spirit that Jesus had promised them:

“you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." (verse 8)

During this time of waiting period they devoted themselves to prayer, wow , this is an answer for me  though, I don’t know about you.  We break our heads over many things: when, what and why; however, we have an answer right here, let me point it out:

Verse 7 "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority.”  (If you have been asking ‘when’ then this is an answer for you)

Verse 14 “they were continually devoting themselves to prayer…(If you’ve been asking God, what should I do, here comes an answer for you, hurray).

Don’t you think we live at a time in India when we do not know what is in store for us: there is the threat of Omicron hovering over India.  Delhi, which has been witnessing a steady rise in Covid-19 cases, reported 4,099 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the positivity rate to 6.46% from 4.59% a day ago. One more person died out of the infection. You may frantically ask, ‘what are we supposed to do at a time like this?’  My answer, ‘like the disciples we need to devote ourselves to prayer.

Group of people joined together to pray in an upper room, so we need to also join prayer groups and intercede for each other, because iron sharpens iron.  (Proverbs 27:17)
