God appeared to Abraham

Genesis 18: 1 Now the LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day.

God knows where we are at the present moment, what we are going through, anxiety, angst and all the perils and turmoil that envelops us. We don’t have to give Him a narration of what is happening, He knows it all. What happened and what is about to happen too! Are you listening?

Our obedience makes God extremely glad and delightful, this is what we read in the previous chapter, Abraham’s ‘instant and immediate obedience’, he was circumcised, and Ishmael his son. All the men of his household, who were born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him. Genesis 17:27. God was floored by Abraham’s obedience! If Abraham had postponed the circumcision to another day then we will not have the awesome chapter of 18 in Genesis where we read of God visiting Abraham along with His angels and having a feast prepared by Abraham and Sarah. Wow, imagine God visiting your home for lunch!

He is such a personal God, why do you shelve God for Sunday and live the rest of your life like He is not there with you?  Why do you separate Him from your everyday life?  He wants to drive along with you as you drive to work, He would like to sit with you, walk with you, and be with you always.  God appeared to Abraham…..just think of these words and you also desire to have such an intimate relationship with God

Draw near to Him! Did not James say, James 4:8 “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded..”  Yes, the latter half of this verse is important if we would like God to me close to us…purification.

David said: Psalm 145:18 “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”

Hebrews 4:16 “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

On Friday (September 17) we had ‘Night prayer’ on zoom until midnight, the next day morning on Saturday I woke up and continued to pray nonstop for two hours until my back pained.  Paying a price to sit with God!  This is called drawing near to God not a five minutes fleeting prayer….
