Rich supply

1 Timothy 6:17”Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.”

We are warned in the above scripture not to be conceited, bird-minded and a smug to fix our hope on money that would perish but instead focus fully on God who richly supplies ALL things -not scantily but abundantly- to enjoy. Amen. This scripture should deliver people from the hot pursuit of money, car, villas, foreign assignments, farm house, ranch and from gaping and aping the flamboyant life styles of celebrities who eventually end up tired, exhausted and empty.  Anybody listening?  All that we see happening today in the lives of people in the entertainment field should give us warning signals of the vanity of riches.

The definition of an ‘abundant life’ does not only mean that you need to have the latest, trendy, luxurious car, expensive house, modern life style, jewels, membership in an upper-class club and so on, this is wrong notion, I have seen all the above perish and pass away like morning dew; however, the life that we live for God and the good deeds that we do never perish.  That’s exactly what the Bible says in verse 18: “...do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share..” (1 Timothy 6:18) People have no time for their own family then where would they have time for social work?  It is all about fun, work, sleep, eat and party, but we be warned this lifestyle will take you downhill of destruction.

In Acts 21, we read about a man named Philip, who has 4 daughters who prophesy and also in whose house Apostle Paul and his team stay during their ministry.  Image taking care of giants like Apostle Paul and his team in your home, this is no small job , not about cooking alone but utmost care has to be given for them.  God would bless you immensely when you look after His beloved servants, did He not say: Matthew 10:41  “The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.”

Be rich in Christ!
