Worship Jesus Ministries Trust Presents
devotion by Sis. Bala Samson

Ecclesiastes 5:10”He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity.

I have watched shrewd, astute brained, smart intellectuals in high positions in reputed corporate sectors make foolish decisions regarding their finances.  The suicide of Café Coffee Day Founder  is an example of such financial mess,  Churches and Christian ministries are no better, they are no paradigm of virtue - Jesus has taught a lot about finances and Apostle Paul has warned, ”money is the root cause of all evil.” Period.

MISCALCULATIONS:  I was in the Bank Manager’s office regarding our Trust  (not for loan application, though) and while I was in the process of filling up documents, the manager invited another customer inside to talk with him.  This gentleman had come along with his daughter and they had come to enquire about home loan, I was witness that day of ‘sales gimmicks’, the customer was already having a running home loan EMI and he has come for another home loan, what?  The manager was enticing him with all the ‘calculations’ that he can to provoke and allure the man into taking the second  loan.  The salary slip is produced and the EMI is calculated, listen to me carefully, there are people who take EMI that eat up 45% of their salary – this is reckless attitude, sometimes the second income like that of the wife is kept as a standby.     Now watch this, what they hide from the bank manager is some of the hand-loans they would have taken, which is not on paper.  Ah! Let me state some of the risk factors:

What if you lose the job?

What if your wife falls sick?

What if you suddenly have an accident? ( anything can happen any time)

What if your child comes up with a major expense? Tell me.

I got an email which said, ‘sister, if I don’t get a job immediately I have to commit suicide because my EMI is accumulating.’  Who expected COVID-19? This message comes as a severe warning!  Financial mess and crisis directly points out to your lack of tithing and honoring God and unwise spending.

For readers who do not know my background, before  joining as full-time servant, I worked for a multinational bank as Executive Secretary for Credit Cards President - top position.  I resigned to join full-time ministry in the year 2004, January, after serving God as part time servant for 4 years.

Proverbs 21:20 – In the House of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man swallows it all up." The simplicity behind the idea to 'spend less than you earn' is shared clearly in this verse.
