In the midst of thunder!

Exodus 19:19 “When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him with thunder.”

Our monthly Night prayer will be held on August 28, Friday from 10 pm to 1 am, please join us, details will be sent later today along with registration form.

Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the LORD descended upon it in fire and the whole mountain quaked violently. Thunder is His voice, fire and lightning is His presence, you may wonder why this dramatic scene, why does God create such terror? Well, all this is for a purpose friend!  Never for a moment allow the devil to sow negative thoughts about God, He is always good and a righteous judge.  As much as we know of His loving kindness and tender mercy, we need to know Him as a Consuming fire and an Almighty God.  Are you listening?

This happens 3 MONTHS AFTER LEAVING Egypt, verse 1 says:”In the third month after the sons of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt”, God now prepares the people to hear His voice give the Ten Commandments, before they go to the next stage of their life, He wanted them to know a) how He delivered them from Egypt in Eagle’s wings b) who they are to Him – a treasured possession c) most important He wanted the people to know His ways.   Their future and their happiness depends upon how they hear the voice of God and obey, then He said “you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy  nation.”  Clap hands for God! If only Christians know THIS truth, then they would not be wearing cross in their necks, Jesus picture in their T , Shirts, but drinking in bars and visiting brothels.  They would  shamelessly say “ I am a secular Christian, I believe in all religions”, there is no such thing as secular Christian, either you are a Christian or not, that’s it.    Knowing their rebellious nature, He did not want them to take God for granted and that’s why He had to create an atmosphere that would instill fear in their heart.  This is the Father Heart of God!

However, in the midst of smoke, thunder and lightning, God called Moses to the top of Mount Sinai in verse 20, The LORD came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain; and the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.”  Moses had to climb the mountain through  thunder, lightning flashes, a thick cloud upon the mountain and a very loud trumpet sound, smoke,  mountain trembling and shaking in order to obey God and go on top; there are demons in the ground level, therefore, in order to speak to God we got to leave this level and climb high.  Are you listening?  Let me tell you something here, walking close with God is no small deal, you got to pay a price!  Fear God!
