Showing the other cheek

Acts 16:22”The crowd rose up together against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and proceeded to order them to be beaten with rods.”

The greatest blow you can give the enemy is to sing praises to God when you are in the darkest hour ( actually I was about to write “ when you are beaten black and blue..”; however, I couldn’t get to write it….)  I don’t write this because I’ve got it all together, but I write because there is power in the words of Jesus when He says, “Mathew 5:38-40”  You have heard that it was said,”Eye for eye and tooth for tooth but I tell you do not resist an evil person.  If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.”  This devotion is going to break Jericho walls today….I tell you, even if they read it after ten years on the social media, it is going to heal them like crazy because there is power in the blood of Jesus.  Amen.

Evil Person:  Observe the words, ‘do not resist an evil person’, are you there?  The evil person provoked by the evil forces inside him/her is inflicting wounds on you, therefore it is not wise to hit back but instead KNEEL & PRAY.  I know it sounds very surreal and weird but let me tell you Jesus had a lot in His mind when He advised us to do so.  The devil begins a war and mayhem in our life through small fights, misunderstandings, ego hassles, harsh, hurting words which later explodes into something huge.  Paul and Silas clothes were torn off and  the crowd came together along with the chief magistrates to beat them with rods and then they were thrown into the inner prison and their feet were fastened in the stocks.  Something heinous and monstrous to happen to someone who did nothing wrong; however, Paul and Silas chose to sing songs.  Amen.  I would like to narrate an incident which stirred me to write this devotion despite the heavy asking of our Lord, ‘show the other cheek..’.

A prophetess who blessed me immensely during dark times in my life shared her personal life on facebook live, she was beaten in the parking area of a very reputed hotel by her husband, he put his foot (with heavy boots) on her neck and they were having a nasty fight in public.  Their marriage ended in divorce; however, their brawl just started off by throwing words at each other, it would have ended in victory for God, if ONLY one of them had remembered the words of Jesus just right there in the parking area, “show the other cheek..”, which simply means don’t fight back..don’t resist the evil person....period (don’t tolerate physical abuse though)  Sometimes the words that HIT you may be very venomous, sharp, lethal and capable of causing deep wounds; nevertheless, remember it is the DEVIL behind the whole episode, forgive and move on.
