318 trained men

Genesis 14:14 “When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.”

Say trained. Come on, I want you to understand the meaning of the word trained, you know what, just becoming a Christian does not suffice to face the loads of challenges the world would throw at you, no wonder, people cannot stand even for one whole year with the Lord! Just one banana thrown by the devil is enough to draw our kids away from church.  Say trained.

When the enemy came against Lot, the nephew of Abraham, he did not sit at

home and say, ‘if it’s God’s will let him save Lot,’ but Abraham rolled up his sleeves for the battle and picked up 318 men, born in his house and trained by Abraham for the battle against a huge fleet of kings and army.  Phew! Mind boggling! (Read Genesis 13:8,9 to know more) This is called confidence! Abraham knew the capacity, ability, mettle and courage of his 318 boys! He knew the trained force would sweep that place and bring back the stolen away property! Abraham and his trained force chased the enemy and won the battle.

Well, let me pause here and tell you, trainer and the trainee got to pursue the goal till the end and persevere without quitting! Bravo! Let this message instill confidence in you to go that extra mile for success, this message is not for necromancers or naysayers but for the one who wants to win and do outstanding exploits for God and in one’s life! Say yeah! When an orphanage run by a young man was shrinking, I found out that discouraged by the misbehavior and betrayals of the youngsters, he sent many away back to their home towns and put few with other institutions.  This guy who was passionate in the beginning, lost hope when the kids raised by him started their wicked tricks, the challenge is to pray for such  rebels and bring them back to God.  Do you think, it would have been easy for Abraham to raise an army of 318 men in his house? Pretty tough! Training is to:

  • wake them up at 5 am in the morning
  • Get ready for prayer at 5.30 am
  • Train them for physical exercise at 7 am
  • Bible study at 8 am
  • Breakfast at 8.30 am

Training is to do things at the right time! Bed time, lunch time and study time is fixed!  You cannot live a lethargic, reckless, wild and thoughtless life and expect super-duper results.  Are you listening?
