Right decision

Acts 15:40”But Paul chose Silas and left, being committed by the brethren to the grace of the Lord.”

Let me give you a short synopsis of the above scripture before I proceed further to explain how we can apply it in our life.  Paul and Barnabas, great men of faith, co-workers in the vineyard of God, have a sharp contention over the selection of Mark to travel with them in the next leg of their missionary journey; therefore they part ways, Paul picked up Silas with him and moved on.  Later in chapter 16, we find that through a vision Paul is invited to Macedonia, so Paul and Silas go to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia, a Roman colony; and they stayed in that city for some days.  Let me pause here and tell you that this city was a dangerous zone, a strong hold of satan, so the Holy Spirit knew who would be best to go with Paul to venture into such domains of satan.  Are you listening to me?  Let me give you a lesson we learn here before I move on to further revelations, do not get frustrated and disturbed if there may be quarrels or misunderstandings, if you are faithful and a person of prayer, nothing would affect you – God work out things for you like in the above case.  SILAS was the perfect choice of Paul!

The few days in Philippi were enough for Paul and Silas to bring revival and disturb the demons out there.  They were blamed for creating confusion and were dragged, beaten with rods severely and thrown into the prison where Paul and Silas sing through the night as they bled profusely.  This was no small persecution friends, but SILAS stuck with Paul and endured all the agony because they both were like-minded in their vision of serving God.  Don’t you think Paul made the right choice?  Finally there was great revival in the jail with the prison doors being opened midnight and the jailer gets converted with his entire household.  Look at the harvest; however, you can achieve nothing if you have the wrong person on the right road?  How many of you got it? A champion cannot take a coward with him! Anybody listening?

Before you make a decision, think over it million times: the staff that you appoint, financial decisions, overseas job decisions, life partner, business proposals, career decisions, study course decisions, investments, ministry proposals, building projects ……whatever……be wise, shrewd and rely on the Holy Spirit before you rashly decide emotionally.  Your choice or decision should not be based on: a dream, colour, luck symbol, rain and rainbow etc.  Pray, fast, read the Bible and wait upon God for an answer.
