Be the first…..

Numbers 7:12”Now the one who presented his offering on the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah..”

Wow! I found something in the book of Numbers which gives us laborious account of details, wherein, squeezed in between, we find something interesting.  After the tabernacle is built, now the twelve tribes make their offerings to God and the first one to dash to the altar is Nashon, the son of Amminadab.  What did he give?  From verse 13 to 17, we have  a plethora of items given:
•    one gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense;
•    one bull, one ram, one male lamb one year old, for a burnt offering;
•    one male goat for a sin offering;
•    and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, five male lambs one year old.

Look at that!  After a whole lot of offerings, when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with God, he heard the voice of God speaking to him.  God guides us and speaks to us when we honor Him with our offerings, did you hear me? People go through lot of financial problems because they have failed to give their tithes and offerings - make a note of this.

“Look, these Christian ministers have no other work other than to speak of money and offerings”, you may say.  Go ahead, pelt rocks at me, but I will talk about giving, because money is going to the wrong place. For a ‘stand-up comedy’ show, people pay around Rs.500/- per person for a couple of hours program, the latest movie Sanju had made crores of earnings,  huge amount is paid to Gym and personal trainers, dieticians and job counselors charge massive fees.  My conundrum : why do people sulk and grumble when it comes to giving God?  Tell me.

For our recently held 3 days retreat-fire camp in Chennai, we charged Rs.400/- per person that includes, 3 meals for 3 days, tea, dormitory type of accommodation too; however, people were grumpy, they would have been happy had it been free.  We had to give concessions for many and eventually we struggled when we had to settle the bill on the last day.  Why believers don’t understand that the dividends and bonuses are huge when people support the work of God, they fail to understand that they are actually partaking with GOD.
