Is being a Christian good enough to please God?

Numbers 14:32”'But as for you, your corpses will fall in this wilderness.  33 'Your sons shall be shepherds for forty years in the wilderness, and they will suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your corpses lie in the wilderness.”

I wonder how many Christians have actually read the above scripture to the people of Israel, who had persistently disobeyed Him. I wrestled within myself whether I should  expound this scripture or not ; however, I was pushed by the Holy Spirit to do it, earth-shattering, it has to be preached now. Coming back to my question, ‘Is being a Christian good enough to please God?’  The answer to this question is an emphatic ‘NO’.  When obedience to God is treated lightly and nonchalantly, that reveals the wishy-washy attitude of a Christian.

When you check out the background of the above scripture, we find none of the guys who rebelled reached the promised land but they died in the wilderness except Joshua and Caleb. Just only the two? Yeah, only the two made it.  When the matter of obedience is so serious, then why do the preachers water-down the subject of obedience and are careful not to offend the hearers but promise that the grace of God would take care of all persistent disobedience.  I may be booed and lampooned for writing ‘strong stuff’ but I am keen on saving the souls of the lost. Disobeying traffic lights, traffic rules, driving rules, etc., have all become norm and cool  in Christian homes! Caveat! “For it is time for judgment to begin with God's household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?”(1 Peter 4:17) Straighten out your lives friends!

  •     When you ignore Church on Sundays, you are disobeying God.( You shall keep My sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary; I am the LORD. Lev 26:2)
  • When you swear and curse, remember God dwells on the inside of you.
  • When your eyes rove lustfully on the opposite sex, you have already committed adultery. (Mathew 5:28)
  • When you care two hoots to keep your word and fulfill commitments, you are disobeying God, because Jesus said, (Mathew 5:37) ‘But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.’ (Speak less)
  • When you fail to read the Bible or pray; yet, joyfully post colorful scriptures on facebook, you would be judged for your disobedience, didn’t God command, "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” (Deuteronomy 6:5)
  • When you harbor bitterness, anger and unforgiveness in your heart, you are disobeying God. Jesus answered, "I tell you, forgive your brother, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.(Mathew 18:22)
